Mondelēz Global LLC announced a nationwide voluntary recall of 15 of its Ritz Cracker and Ritz Bits products due to a potential presence of Salmonella, a microorganism that can cause serious or even fatal infections. The whey powder supplier originally issued the recall which affected the Ritz products.
Various packaging sizes of Ritz Bitz Cheese, Bacon Cracker Sandwiches, Whole Wheat Sandwiches and variety packs are affected.

Salmonella Food Poisoning
Young children, frail or elderly persons, or those with weakened immune systems are at risk of experiencing the worst of the symptoms.
The side effects vary but most will experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. In some cases, Salmonella can get into the bloodstream and cause arterial infections, infected aneurysms, endocarditis and arthritis.
Salmonella is a bacterial infection that has been on the rise this summer. Various types of food products have been recalled due to the threat or presence of Salmonella.
