Can-Am Ryker Motorcycles Recall Lawsuit

More than 9,000 2022 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles were recalled due to a steering and crash risk. Learn more about the recall and how you may be entitled to compensation.

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc., has announced the recall of certain 2022 models of the Can-Am Ryker motorcycle, a three-wheel bike that sells for between $9,000 and $13,500. The Canadian-based company made the announcement in mid-July, stating that it covers motorcycles produced between February 2021 and July 5, 2022.

The bikes under recall were sold with a handlebar bolt with insufficient thread length, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report. The manufacturing defect could lead to the handlebar bolt breaking during riding, causing a steering and crash risk.

As of May 2022, the Can-Am Ryker manufacturer had received two reports of the bolt breaking while someone was riding, leading to one crash and an ankle injury. The bolt broke an additional 56 times during assembly by various dealerships, according to the report, and another three times under unspecific conditions.

The recall affects 9,353 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. Owners of recalled vehicles are advised not to ride them until a dealer has replaced the defective steering stem bolts with a functional element. Can-Am informed the NHTSA it planned to mail recall notification letters to owners by July 27.
