Goalsetter Systems Inc. has announced the recall of wall-mounted basketball hoops, citing the risk of injury or death when the hoops detach.
According to the announcement made through the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), an incident where a Goalsetter basketball hoop detached from the wall resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy in 2018.
Other detachments have caused facial injuries in one case and a broken leg in another.
The recall affects 18,000 Goalsetter wall-mounted hoops sold between November 1999 and June 2022.
The CPSC announcement advises owners to stop using the Goalsetter basketball hoops immediately.
