IKEA recalled their anthracite ODGER swivel chairs due to fracturing leg bases and causing injury. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported the recall on Feb. 9, 2023.

Why did IKEA recall the ODGER swivel chairs?

According to the CPSC, IKEA’s swivel chairs were recalled due to the leg base breaking. The company received four reports of leg base breaking, two of which resulted in an injury in the U.S. The injuries were caused by the consumers falling while using the chair.

Approximately 12,000 units are included in this recall. The swivel chairs were sold exclusively at IKEA stores and the online IKEA store from October 2019 through December 2022 for around $160.

What models are included in the swivel chair recall? CPSC Swivel Chair Recall

The official model name for the recalled swivel chair is IKEA ODGER swivel chair. This is in an anthracite (dark gray) color.

The recalled chairs include model numbers 2221 and before. The first two digits represent the year, and the last two digits represent the week. The model number can be found on the label, which is located underneath the seat.

Consumers should immediately stop using these products to avoid injury.
