Why were the bed rails recalled?

According to the CPSC, Platinum Health, LLC recalled the bed assist rails due to trapping risks and choking. The company received one report of a death due to the recalled product.

When the rails are attached to an adult’s bed, users can be trapped between the bed rail and the side of the mattress. This could cause a number of issues including suffocation, choking, drowning, smothering, strangulation and death.
