Peloton recalled specific models of their exercise bikes after receiving reports that a defective seat post was causing falls and injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the Peloton bike seat recall on May 11, 2023.
Why did Peloton recall their exercise bikes?
According to the CPSC, the exercise bike seat assembly can break apart during use. The rider could fall and become injured.
Peloton received 35 reports of the seat post breaking during use. 13 of these reports resulted in injuries, including a broken wrist, cuts, and bruises.
Approximately 2.2 million units are included in the recall.
What Peloton models are part of the recall?
Peloton recalled all exercise bikes with the model number PL01. The brand name and model number are located on the inside front fork, near the front wheel.
The CPSC advises all consumers to stop using the recalled Peloton exercise bikes.
