Yamaha’s golf cars were recalled due to a risk of crash, injury, or death. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted the recall notice on July 6, 2023. The CPSC posted another recall notice on July 13, 2023, with additional models.
Why were Yamaha’s golf cars recalled?
According to the CPSC, the golf car’s accelerator spring could dislodge, causing the pedal not to return to the “resting position.” As a result, the car could get out of control and lead to a crash.
Around 11,000 cars were recalled, with an additional 2,200 in Canada. An additional 370 models were recalled on July 13.
What golf car models constitute this recall?
The recall applies to model year 2023 of Yamaha golf cars and personal transportation vehicles (PTVs). The recall includes the following model and serial numbers:
- Code: J0D | Model: Drive2 QuieTech PTV | Serial Number: 600665 through 602162
- Code: J0E | Model: Drive2 Powertech AC PTV | Serial Number: 600109 through 600468
- Code: J0P | Model: UMAX Rally 2+2 AC | Serial Number: 000705 through 000739
- Code: J2D | Model: Concierge 4E | Serial Number: 100101 through 100421
- Code: J5C | Model: Drive2 Powertech AC Li PTV | Serial Number: 400104 through 400139
The cars were sold in the following colors:
- White
- Blue
- Green
- Orange
The CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled Yamaha golf cars and PTVs.
