On Aug. 16, 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Gree’s dehumidifiers due to the risk of overheating, fire, and burn injuries.
According to the CPSC, Gree’s dehumidifiers can overheat and catch fire, posing a safety hazard to consumers.
Gree has received 23 reports of fire, 688 reports of the dehumidifiers overheating, and reports of $168,000 in property damage as a result of the dehumidifiers overheating or catching fire.
Approximately 1.56 million dehumidifiers are subject to the recall.
What models are included in the dehumidifier recall?
The recall includes 42 dehumidifier models of the following brand names:
- Kenmore
- GE
- SoleusAir
- Norpole
- Seabreeze
Recalled models have been manufactured between January 2011 and February 2014.
Model numbers and date codes are printed on a sticker at the back, front, or side of the dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers come in white, beige, gray, or black plastic. The following model numbers have been recalled:
