On Dec. 14, 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Weatherbeeta USA’s Collegiate horse-riding saddles due to risks of injury.
According to the CPSC, the saddle’s rivet (the adjustable part of the saddle) or the stirrup bar (the part that balances the rider’s body weight) can break, causing the rider to fall and become injured.
The CPSC received 12 reports of saddles breaking and one fall injury. Around 2,300 saddles are included in the recall.
What models of Weatherbeeta USA’s saddles are included in the recall?
The recall includes the following Collegiate English horse-riding saddle models and manufacturing dates:
- Degree Mono Event | March 2019 – July 2023
- Graduate Close Contact | March 2019 – July 2023
- Honour Close Contact | March 2019 – July 2023
- Integrity Mono Dressage | March 2019 – July 2023
- Lectern Dressage | All models
- Warwick Close Contact | March 2019 – July 2023
Manufacturing dates are in the MM-YYYY format in the last six digits of the saddle’s serial number.
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled saddles.
