On Jan. 4, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Bell Sports’ adult bicycle helmets due to failure to protect during a crash incident.
According to the CPSC, the bike helmet’s strap anchor can dislodge from the helmet when force is applied to it. This defect violates the CPSC’s federal safety regulations for bike helmets. The CPSC also stated that the helmets can fail to protect the user during a crash, leading to head injuries.
The recall affects Bell Slope adult-sized bicycle helmets, which the inner helmet sticker can identify. Model number B1161X is included in the recall. Approximately 11,000 helmets are included in the recall.
The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled bike helmets immediately and to destroy the helmets by cutting the straps.
