On Jan. 25, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Visual Comfort & Co.’s Maverick Coastal outdoor ceiling fans due to fall hazards and risk of injuries.
According to the CPSC, the ceiling fans’ blades can crack or break and fall off, posing a risk of injury onto consumers below. The CPSC received nine reports of fan blades cracking or breaking.
Around 6,400 ceiling fans were included in the recall, with an additional 200 sold in Canada.
The recall involves Visual Comfort & Co.’s Maverick Coastal 60-inch outdoor ceiling fans sold in white and black finishes. The recall affects three-blade ceiling fans with the model number 3MGMR60XXX, which is printed on a white label at the top of the fan’s motor.
The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled ceiling fans immediately.
