Wild Country Ropeman 1 Ascenders for Climbing Recall Lawsuit

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the teeth of the recalled ascenders can fail to engage, making it difficult or impossible for the user to ascend. About 7,700 of the rope clamps are included in this June 6, 2024, recall. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the Ropeman 1 Ascenders immediately.

The recalled mountaineering clips are orange with “Ropeman 1” and the batch number “05A0722” printed in white on the side of the product. The ascenders were manufactured in July 2022. Consumers purchased the ascenders from REI and other specialty outdoor stores nationwide at wildcountry.com, backcountry.com, and campsaver.com from December 2022 through April 2024 for about $55.
