According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled steam cleaners can expel hot water or steam onto users while heating or during use, posing a burn hazard. The July 18, 2024, recall includes over 3.2 million units after at least 157 reports of burn injuries have resulted from using the steam cleaners. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the BISSELL Steam Shot products immediately.
The recall involves the model series 39N7 and 2994. The model numbers are printed on the bottom of the unit. “STEAM SHOT” or “POWER STEAMER” is printed on the side of the product. The steam cleaners come in green, blue, pink, white, black, orange, purple, and red. The handheld steam cleaners were sold at Target, Walmart, and other stores nationwide. They were also sold online at Bissell.com, Amazon.com, hsn.com, and other websites from August 2008 through May 2024 for between $35 and $40.
