Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters Lithium-Ion Batteries Recall Lawsuit

The lithium-ion batteries and replacement batteries for Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters have been recalled. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC, are currently accepting new cases for the recalled lithium-ion batteries that power Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters.

What is the Problem?

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters’ lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite, posing a fire hazard to consumers. This phenomenon is called thermal runaway. Thermal runaway is a chain reaction where a battery overheats, causing it to release more heat and potentially catch fire or explode. It’s dangerous because it can happen quickly, spread to nearby batteries or materials, and is difficult to stop once it starts.

Sublue and the CPSC have received at least 161 reports of thermal runaway involving the Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters’ lithium-ion batteries, including multiple reports of fire and injuries. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters immediately.

Is My Underwater Scooter Lithium-Ion Battery Included in the Recall?

The March 13, 2025, recall includes about 40,370 lithium-ion batteries for the Sublue Mix Underwater Scooters. Only black lithium-ion batteries are included in the recall; new gray batteries have replaced the recalled batteries. The scooters were sold in arctic white, space blue, and aqua blue. The scooters have “Sublue” printed on the top and “Whiteshark Mix Underwater Scooter” printed on the side. The lithium-ion battery compartment is located on the underside of the scooter.

The scooters were sold exclusively online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Sublue.com, Westmarine.com, and other websites from June 2018 to February 2025 for approximately $550 (for scooters) and $150 (for replacement batteries).
