According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion batteries in the recalled A3102 Anker Soundcore (black) and A3302 PowerConf S3 Bluetooth Speakers can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
The December 5, 2024, recall includes about 79,000 Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speakers with model numbers A3102016, A3302011, and A3302031 are included in this recall. The unit’s “SN Code” is visible on the underside of the speakers.
There have been at least 33 reports of incidents involving the overheating of lithium-ion batteries in the speakers; some of these incidents include fires and burn injuries. Lithium-ion batteries can be dangerous because they can overheat, catch fire, or even explode if they are damaged, charged the wrong way, or exposed to very high temperatures. Johnson//Becker has successfully handled cases involving lithium-ion batteries.
The speakers were sold exclusively online at Amazon.com from March 2023 through October 2023 for between $28 and $130.
