BD Vision Climbing Harness Recall Lawsuit

Black Diamond Equipment has recalled its BD Vision Climbing Harnesses. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC, are currently accepting new cases for recalled climbing equipment.

What is the Problem?

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled BD Vision Climbing Harnesses can degrade over time and fail to support the climber, posing a fall hazard that could result in serious injury or death. Black Diamond and the CPSC have received at least one report of the harness waist belt failing. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using BD Vision Climbing Harnesses immediately.

Is My Black Diamond Equipment Part of the Recall?

The March 13, 2025, recall involves all sizes of BD Vision Harnesses. The lightweight harness is designed for technical alpine and/or ice climbs. Essentially, this type of climbing involves scaling challenging mountains or ice, requiring specialized skills and equipment. The harness has fixed leg loops and was sold in black and white colors. “Black Diamond” is printed on one of the leg loops. “Vision” is printed on the other leg loop.

The BD Vision Climbing Harnesses were sold at Liberty Mountain, Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), and other specialty outdoor stores nationwide. The harnesses were also sold online at blackdiamondequipment.com, backcountry.com, and evo.com from January 2018 through February 2025 for about $175.
