The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Berkshire Blanket & home Company’s heated throws and blankets due to fire and thermal burn injury hazards. The recall was posted on Nov. 30, 2023.
According to the CPSC, the recalled electric blankets can overheat and cause fire or thermal burn injuries.
The CPSC received nine incident reports of the blankets burning, melting, or overheating.
Approximately 29,840 blankets are included in the recall.
What blanket models are included in the recall?
The blankets included in the recall were sold in a variety of colors and patterns; blue, cream, gray, hummus, blue stripes, and snowflakes. They were also sold in twin, full, and king sizes.
Model numbers are located on a white label on the back of the blankets and on the back of the controller. Tracker numbers are printed on the wash labels.

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled electric blankets and throws, and destroy the product by cutting the cord.
