The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Best Buy’s Insignia and Yardbird fire tables with lava rocks due to a risk of burn and impact injuries.
According to the CPSC, the lava rocks can break off and eject from the fire tables, posing burn and impact injury hazards.
Best Buy received six reports of the Insignia fire table’s lava rocks splitting or ejecting from the unit. The company also received two reports of lava rocks splitting or ejecting from the Yardbird fire tables.
Approximately 1,490 units were recalled.
What models are included in the fire table recall?
The recall includes both Insignia and Yardbird fire tables sold by Best Buy, and only affects fire tables with lava rock fill.
The Insignia black tables are square and house a propane tank. The surface has a center inset that holds the heating element and lava rock materials.
Recalled Insignia tables involve the following model numbers:
- NS-PFT28BK3 (28-inch model)
- NS-PFT30BK03 (30-inch model)
The Yardbird fire tables have a square top with twelve inset tiles and resin wicker on the sides. The tables house a propane tank and a recessed center for the heating element and a cover for the opening. The recalled tables are about 43 inches long and were sold under the manufacturer model number MPN70639.
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled fire tables.
