BISSELL Multi Reach Hand and Floor Vacuum Cleaner Recall Lawsuit

On Feb. 1, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled BISSELL’s Multi Reach hand and floor vacuum cleaners due to fire hazards.

According to the CPSC, the vacuum’s battery pack can overheat, posing a fire hazard. BISSELL has received 17 reports of their vacuum cleaners smoking and burning, including six indicating the battery catching fire.

Approximately 142,000 vacuums are included in the recall, with an additional 14,600 sold in Canada.

The recall includes the following models of the BISSELL Multi Reach hand and floor vacuum cleaners:

  • 19851
  • 19859
  • 1985T
  • 2151
  • 21512
  • 21513
  • 21517
  • 21518
  • 21519
  • 2151A
  • 2151T
  • 2151W
  • 2151V

Model numbers are located on the product labels behind the vacuum cleaner’s dirt tank. The affected vacuums were sold in a variety of colors.

The CPSC advises consumers to stop using recalled BISSELL vacuums immediately and to dispose of the lithium-ion batteries properly. Lithium-ion batteries should be disposed of according to state and local guidelines and not in household trash.
