Bose Bass Modules Recall Lawsuit

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Bose’s Acoustimass, Lifestyle and Companion bass modules due to fire hazards. The recall was posted on June 29, 2023.

Why were the Bose bass modules recalled?

According to the CPSC, the Bose speaker’s electrical components could fail. Defective electrical components could spark a fire and cause burn injuries or property damage.

The CPSC and Bose received 21 reports worldwide of the bass modules catching fire or melting. Three fire incidents resulted in property damage surrounding the bass modules.

Around 884,000 models were recalled, with an additional 98,000 in Canada and 18,300 in Mexico.

What models are included in the Bose product recall?

Recalled Bose products involve bass modules manufactured before Apr. 1, 2006, sold with Acoustimass, Lifestyle and Companion home theater systems.Bose Bass Module Product Recall

Date codes, product names, serial numbers and the Bose logo are printed on the product label. The product label is located either on the back of the product or at the bottom.

The multi-digit serial number printed on the label also includes the date code. Date codes are identified in the eighth through the 11th digit of the serial number.

The following Bose products with date codes between 2090 and 6091 only are included in the recall:

  • Acoustimass 6 III Home Entertainment System
  • Acoustimass 15 II Home Entertainment System

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and unplug the bass modules.
