What has been Recalled, and What is the Problem?
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the refillable plastic lid’s closure can degrade after repeated openings, causing the child-resistant lid to wear out, posing a risk of poisoning. The January 30, 2025, recall involves about 65,000 Cabinet Health 4 oz. Refillable Medicine Bottles with ABS plastic lids. The clear glass bottles have blue, turquoise, orange, or purple plastic lids labeled “CABINET.”
A March 2018 report by Safe Kids Worldwide stated a child in the U.S. is rushed to the emergency room for an accidental medicine-related poisoning every nine minutes. Once every hour, a child is hospitalized due to poisoning, and every 12 days, a child under the age of 6 passes away from poisoning.
Where were the Cabinet Health Refillable Medicine Bottles Sold?
The refillable prescription/medicine bottles were sold online at cabinethealth.com, Amazon.com, and Grove.co and at CVS stores from March 2023 through July 2024 for between $10 and $20.
