The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Costco’s Ubio Labs power banks due to fire hazards. The recall was posted on Aug. 17, 2023.
According to the CPSC, the recalled power banks can overheat and catch fire, causing burn injuries or property damage.
Costco received three fire reports preceding the recall. One of the fire reports occurred on a commercial flight, resulting in four reports of smoke inhalation and a burn injury.
Around 350,000 power banks were included in the recall.
What models are included in the power bank recall?
The recall includes Ubio Labs power banks, sold in either a pack of one or a pack of two. The model number, PWB1071, is printed on the back. The recall includes the following item numbers:
- Single Pack: 1314518
- Two-Pack: 1265470
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled power banks.
