DeWalt Utility Bar Recall Lawsuit

Over 100,000 DeWALT utility bars have been recalled because the handle can break. This puts the user or anyone nearby at risk of injury.

A 40-inch utility bar has been recalled because it can break while being used to pry– posing an injury hazard to user or those nearby.

The black and yellow 40″ Multi-Functional Utility Bar is designed for prying at one end, with the other end being used to grip boards. It was sold at Home Depot, other nationwide hardware stores, and online at Amazon.com from December 2015 to March 2019.

They sold anywhere from $30 to $40. It has the name “DeWALT” written on one side with the model number DWHT55293 on the other.

DeWalt has received at least 56 known reports of the utility bar breaking apart during use.

Four of those reports included injury to the user.  There are roughly 145,000 of these bars being recalled from the consumer market.
