The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Electrolux Group’s Frigidaire-branded side-by-side refrigerators with slim ice buckets due to the risk of injury. The recall was posted on Feb. 8, 2024.
According to the CPSC, the refrigerators included in the recall contain an ice bucket assembly that can break, causing plastic pieces to enter the ice bucket. This poses a choking and laceration hazard to consumers dispensing ice from the buckets.
Electrolux Group has received 343 incident reports of plastic pieces breaking off, including reports of injuries involving lacerations and ingestion of the plastic pieces.
Around 383,000 refrigerators were included in the recall.
