HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations Recall Lawsuit

HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations have been recalled. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC, are currently accepting new cases for recalled portable power stations.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion batteries in the HALO 1000 Portable Power Station can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards that can lead to serious injury or death. A man in Bradenton, Florida, died from smoke inhalation from a fire involving the recalled portable power station in his home in June 2022.

The August 29, 2024 recall included about 5,740 portable power stations. The ZAGG Inc. HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations are high-capacity lithium-ion battery power banks with three USB-A charge ports, a USB-C fast charge port, three AC outputs, two DC outputs, a DC socket, an LCD display, a built-in flood light, and a collapsible handle. The model number, PS-1000, is found on the bottom of the product. The stations come in carbon, stone gray, desert sand, midnight blue, and woodland green.

It is well known that lithium-ion batteries are prone to failure, resulting in the phenomenon known as thermal runaway. Thermal runaway refers to a chemical reaction where a repeating cycle of excessive heat causes more and more heat until an explosion occurs. When this happens, the lithium-ion, or li-ion, batteries can catch on fire or explode. This can result in first-, second-, or third-degree burn injuries to anyone nearby. Over the past three years, Johnson//Becker lawyers have successfully tried multiple lithium-ion battery cases.

The power stations were sold at ZAGG, ACG, and retailer QVC from October 2021 through March 2022 for between $1,000 and $1,300.
