About 20,000 portable mini heaters have been recalled from the consumer market due to fire and burn hazards, reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Heat Hero LLC of Irvine, Calif. announced the recall on April 17, 2019. The space heaters were sold in the United States, Canada, and online at shop.buyheathero.com, between October 2018 and March 2019 for $35 to $45.
The problem with the space heater is that it can overheat, smoke and catch fire. This put the consumer at risk of injury and property damage.
There have already been 117 reports of the heater overheating. Of those reports, 47 units were reported to have started smoking, and 10 caught fire, with two resulting in property damage. So far, there have been no reports in Canada.
You should immediately stop using this product if you suspect you have one at home. The small, 350W device measures roughly 10 inches tall by 5 inches wide. It has an LED digital screen to display buttons, as well as a temperature gauge.
