On Jan. 4, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Homedics massagers due to fire hazards and burn injury risks.

According to the CPSC, the recalled massagers can overheat while charging, leading to a fire. Approximately 46,000 massagers are included in the recall, with an additional 41,000 sold in Canada.

Homedics has received at least 17 reports of the recalled massagers overheating.

Recalled Homedics Therapist Select Massagers have a 120 VAC, 60 HZ power cord. The recall only affects massagers with manufacturing dates up until the end of 2022. Manufacturing dates are printed on a sticker underneath the massager’s barrel in a WWYY format. Manufacturing dates ending in 20, 21, and 22 are included in the recall.

The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled massagers immediately.
