On Feb. 1, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Huihuang Trading’s Fishing Games due to magnet ingestion hazards and violating federal safety regulations.
According to the CPSC, the toy fishing game does not meet the federal magnet strength and size safety standards.
If the magnets were swallowed, the magnets could attract one another or another metal object and dislodge in the digestive system. The affected person can then suffer perforations, twisting, blocking of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, or even death.
The recall includes Huihuang Trading Inc. Fishing Games, which includes around nine animal pieces to fish. The recall affects batch number X002903XZT323, which is printed on the side of the product’s box.
Around 200 of the fishing games were recalled.
The CPSC is aware of 2,400 magnet ingestions treated in hospital emergency rooms from 2017 through 2021.
The CPSC advises parents and caregivers to keep the recalled fishing games away from children and to dispose of them properly.
