According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled engines can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. About 69,000 engines were recalled on June 6, 2024. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the recalled engines immediately. The following engines used in lawn and garden equipment are included in the recall:

There have been eight reports of fires with the recalled engines. The engines were sold at Kawasaki, Bad Boy Mowers, Big Dog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere, and Kubota dealers nationwide from April 2021 through December 2023 for between $4,000 and $15,000.
