Kubota has announced the recall of a model of its utility vehicles, citing the risk of a crash hazard.

The recall was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which stated “the utility vehicle’s steering shaft can shear at or near the electric power steering housing, and cause the driver to lose steering control, posing injury and collision hazards.”

Kubota has received five reports of the steering shaft shearing.

The recall affects 19,500 RTV-XG850 model vehicles sold between June 2018 and October 2022, and is also known as “Sidekick.” The vehicles were sold at Kubota dealers nationwide.

The recall has since been expanded to include the following serial model number ranges:

  • 31706-35058
  • Y1025-Y1310
  • 50011-50012
  • 50075-52920

Consumers in possession of the recalled vehicles are instructed to stop driving the vehicles immediately.
