Star Soap Star voluntarily recalled their Mainstays three-wick candles due to fire and laceration hazards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall on Feb. 23, 2023.

Why were the Mainstays candles recalled?

According to the CPSC, the three-wick candles were recalled due to the candle wicks burning too close to the sides of the glass container. As a result, the glass can break and pose a fire and serious cut or laceration hazard.

Star Soap Star and the CPSC received 12 reports of the wicks burning too close to the sides and glass cracking, with several damages to nearby items. The companies also received one report of a minor cut and another report of a fire.

Over 1.2 million candles have been recalled.

Which candles are included in this recall?

The product, officially named Mainstays Three-Wick Candles, has seven types. These types are under the Halloween and Autumn themes:

  • Pumpkin Spice
  • Warm Apple Pie
  • Fall Farm House
  • Warm Fall Leaves
  • Jack-O-Lantern
  • Mystic Fog
  • Magic Potion

The Mainstays Three-Wick candles were sold exclusively at Walmart and walmart.com.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles.
