More than 8,000 Murphy Beds sold under various brand names have been recalled due to the risk of serious injury to consumers.
Bed systems sold by Ivy Bronx, Orren Ellis, Stellar Home Furniture, and Wade Logan were recalled through the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC); the beds were manufactured by Cyme Tech, a Canadian company.
Recalled Murphy Beds can detach from the wall unexpectedly, posing a risk of falling on anyone standing nearby. The CPSC reports Cyme is aware of 162 incidents of a bed breaking off from the wall, leading to 62 injuries, including broken bones and concussions.
The beds were sold through Wayfair, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Overstock, Allmodern, and Cymax, retailing between $1,200 and $1,500 from February 2014 through May 2022.
Customers with the recalled beds should contact Cyme for a free inspection and repair of the bed.
