The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Oreck Discover Upright vacuums due to electrical shock risks. The recall was initiated on Dec. 7, 2023.
According to the CPSC, the recalled Oreck vacuum cleaner’s electric cord plug prong can detach and remain in the outlet while the vacuum is unplugged, posing an electric shock hazard to consumers.
The CPSC received 41 reports of Oreck vacuum cleaners’ prongs detaching from plugs.
Approximately 6,200 vacuum cleaners have been recalled.
What vacuum cleaner models have been recalled?
Oreck Discover Upright vacuums included in the recall have model numbers UK30500 and UK30500PC.
The recall also includes the following vacuum serial numbers:
- AJ2226
- AJ2227
- AJ2228
- AJ2229
- AJ2230
- AJ2231
- AJ2232
Model and serial numbers are printed on a silver data label at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the recalled Oreck vacuum cleaners immediately.
