Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of Ove Decors’ fire tables on Jan. 19, 2023, due to the risk of melting gas hoses within the product, making it hazardous to use.
What products were affected by the recall?
The recall affects two different fire tables / fire pits from Ove Decors, the Vanessa gas fire table, and the Martha Stewart Lily Pond gas fire table. The dark charcoal-colored round fire pits / tables were sold online at Amazon.com, Build.com., HomeDepot.com, Houzz.com, Kbauthority.com, LampPlus.com, Lowes.com, Overstock.com, TotallyFurniture.com, TractorSupply.com, Walmart.com and Wayfair.com from April 2020 through October 2022 for between $800 and $1,500.
The fire tables are 42 inches in diameter, 50,000 BTU and weigh about 154 pounds.
470 units were affected by this recall, with 14 sold in Canada. Ove Decors has taken down both products from their official website and posted a recall notice.
Why were Ove Decors’ fire pits recalled?
Ove Decors and CPSC received one report of a gas hose melting when encountering the heat shield, which can lead to the table lighting on fire. While there were no reports of injury, the CPSC deemed it unsafe to continue selling and to use.
Consumers should no longer use these products, and make sure the gas tank is set OFF.
How do consumers know if their fire tables have been recalled?
The recall affects all of Ove Decors’ Vanessa and Martha Stewart Lily Pond gas fire tables.
