According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the outer packaging of these bags could split open near the zipper. This becomes a serious injury concern as the contents could be ingested or pose a risk of skin or eye injuries. Ingestion of laundry detergent pods can also cause death.
8.2 Million Tide Pods, Gain Pods, Ace Pods, Ariel Pods Recalled
The laundry pods recall was issued on April 5, 2024, and involved over 8.2 million laundry detergent pods. It involves Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods, and Ariel Pods liquid laundry detergent pods packaged in flexible bags. These defective bags were manufactured between September 2023 and February 2024. The recalled detergents came in bags ranging from 12 to 39 packets.
The CPSC recommends that consumers immediately secure the recalled bags and remove them from the reach of children. You can check to see if your bag is affected by the recall by checking the lot code on the bottom of the package.
The detergent was sold at Big Lots, CVS, Family Dollar, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Target, Walmart, and other major stores nationwide. The recalled bags were also sold online at Amazon.com and other websites.
