The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Research Products’ steam humidifiers due to fire hazards. The recall was announced on June 22, 2023.
Why were the steam humidifiers recalled?
According to the CPSC, a wire in the recalled humidifier could loosen and overheat, leading to a fire hazard.
Research Products and the CPSC received 103 reports of the recalled humidifiers overheating. Ten incidents resulted in smoke or house fires with over $10 million in damages.
Approximately 36,200 units were recalled, with an additional 3,800 in Canada.
What models are included in the steam humidifier recall?
The recall includes all models with a “D” shaped electrode connector wire. There are specific model numbers for each brand in the recall. Model numbers are located on the left side panel of the steam humidifiers.

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled humidifiers, and make sure that the devices are turned off.
