On Jan. 19, 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) posted a recall on three of Sakar International’s helmets since the products didn’t meet their federal safety standards and could lead to a serious head injury in an accident.
Which of Sakar’s helmets were recalled?
Sakar International’s recalled helmets are Credhedz Lizard Helmet, Crayola Dry Erase Helmet and Tony Hawk Multi-Purpose Helmet.
Model numbers are on the white warning label on the inside of the helmet. The model number is listed on the top right corner of the label.
The Tony Hawk helmets came in various colors and came with black straps and buckles. The model numbers for this helmet are:
- AGE251TH-GCRM
- AGE251TH-NCRM
- AGE251TH-BKMT
- AGE251TH-BLU-T30-12
- AGE251TH-RBW
- AGE22SLDTH-BLK
- ACTGEAR242TH-GRN
The Credhedz Lizard helmets have a black base color with a green plastic lizard atop the helmet and black straps and buckles. The model number for this product is ACTGEAR242071.
The Crayola Dry-Erase helmets have a white base color and have black straps and buckles. This helmet comes with a pack of five markers. The model number for Crayola Dry-Erase is ACTGEAR242071.
Manufactured in China, 33,100 units were reported in the recall. There is no announcement or post on the Sakar International website about the posted recall.
Why were Sakar International’s helmets recalled?
While there were no records of injuries as a result to these products, they did not pass the safety guidelines. The CPSC recalled these helmets before they could cause any injuries. These helmets can fail to protect an individual in an accident.
Consumers should not use these helmets at any time, especially for their intended use.
