Shimano Bicycle Crankset Recall Lawsuit

Shimano’s bike cranksets have been recalled due to crash hazards. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC are currently accepting new bike crankset lawsuits. Learn more below.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Shimano’s bike cranksets due to crash hazards. The recall was posted on Sept. 21, 2023.

As one of the key components of a bike, the crankset moves the chain when the rider pedals. The chain and the pedals are attached to the crankset for pedaling.

According to the CPSC, the recalled bonded crank parts can separate and break and cause a consumer to crash while riding.

The firm received 4,519 incident reports of cranksets separating from the bike, with six injuries reported. Such injuries included bone fractures, joint displacement, and lacerations (cutting).

Around 680,000 units were recalled, with an additional 80,000 units in Canada.
