According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the spacing between some of the crib’s slats is wider than allowed under the federal safety standard, posing an entrapment hazard to children. The regulation on the gap between slats is intended to prevent child entrapment between uniformly and non-uniformly spaced components.
The November 21, 2024, recall includes about 1,200 South Shore brand Balka & Olena cribs. The cribs are made of wood and were sold in white and natural wood colors. The following model numbers are included in the recall: 13825, 13824, 12937, 12938, and 14408. The model number is printed on an adhesive label on one end of the crib.
The recalled cribs were sold at Amazon.com, Cymax.com, Walmart.com, Southshorefurniture.com, and other websites from July 2020 through February 2024 for about $415 to $475.
