On Jan. 18, 2024, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Steamist’s wall-mounted tilt-up bath and shower seats due to the risks of falling and injury.
According to the CPSC, the wall-mounting bracket and rods supporting the seats can corrode and break and can cause the user to fall and become injured.
The CPSC received 62 reports of bath and shower seats breaking as well as four reports of injuries.
Approximately 3,900 seats are included in the recall, with an additional 733 sold in Canada and 126 in Mexico.
What bath and shower seat models are included in the recall?
The recall affects bath and shower seats with the following model numbers:
- SBS-101BN
- SBS-101PN
- SBS-101PC
- SBS-101ORB
Additionally, the recalled bath and shower seats’ support rods and bracket covers come in a variety of finishes:
- Brushed nickel
- Polished nickel
- Polished chrome
- Oil-rubbed bronze
The CPSC advises consumers to cease use of the recalled bath and shower seats immediately.
