Target has announced a recall of Pillowfort Weighted Blankets, citing the risk of asphyxiation for young children.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a child “can become entrapped by unzipping and entering the blanket, posing a risk of death by asphyxiation.”

The recall includes about 204,000 Pillowfort Weighted Blankets sold between December 2018 and September 2022. The blankets were sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com.

Target has received four reports of young children becoming entrapped in the blanket, including an April 2022 incident that resulted in the deaths of two young girls.

Consumers in possession of the recalled Pillowfort Weighted Blanket are instructed to stop using the blanket immediately.
