According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the wireless receiver that plugs into an outlet can overheat, posing a fire hazard. There have been at least ten reports of the switches overheating, including one resulting in a fire.
The December 12, 2024, recall includes about 44,600 decorative tree light controllers used to turn on holiday tree lights. There are two different versions of the wireless light switch available. One version is shaped like green, red, and white peppermint candy with a candy cane on/off lever. This model is labeled “Christmas Light Controller.” The second version of the wireless switch is also green, red, and white and is a square on/off switch. “Tree Lighting Switch” is printed on this model.
The recalled light switches were sold at Walmart, Target, and Cracker Barrel stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com, Target.com, and CrackerBarrel.com from July 2024 through November 2024 for between $25 and $40.
