On Dec. 21, 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled TJX’s foldable wood and rope bistro set chairs due to fall and injury hazards.
According to the CPSC, the bistro chair’s wooden frame can break or collapse while a consumer is seated. The consumer can then fall and become injured.
The CPSC received eight incident reports of a bistro chair’s wooden frame breaking or collapsing, including six reports of injuries. Around 29,000 bistro chair sets are included in the recall.
The bistro chairs are sold as part of a three- or five-piece set under Nautica or House & Garden brands. The set consists of a small wooden table, two or four foldable chairs with wooden frames, and a rope on the seat. The rope came in the following colors: gray, turquoise, brown, sand, black, aqua, pink, green, taupe, or white.
The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled bistro chair sets immediately and properly dispose of the chairs.
