According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled toy guns fail to meet multiple federal safety standards. First, the toy guns do not have a blaze orange tip that is required to differentiate toy guns from real guns. Additionally, the projectiles that shoot from the toy guns pose an eye injury hazard to children because they do not meet mandatory standards for projectile toys. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the recalled toy guns immediately.
The July 25, 2024 recall involves about 490 toy guns. The toys were sold in black/sand yellow, and black/green with “KRISS VECTOR” and “.45 ACP” printed on the sides of the toy. The Victor Electric Toy Gun is sold with a magazine that holds the projectiles, foam bullet projectiles, and a holographic sight. The soft bullet toy guns were sold exclusively online at Temu.com from March 2023 through June 2023 for about $45.
